Denia to Ibiza and back again

If you’re living or holidaying on the costa Blanca and have yet to discover the Balearic Islands, make sure to give them a visit. No need to fly! Just head to the port of Denia and jump onboard the slow or fast craft to the islands (this time of the year there is always space) make sure to book a reservation in the summer.

The first thing we normally do when arriving in Ibiza is park the car up, grab a coffee and head off on foot. I am a retired Architect and have lived in Spain for the last 7 years. The passion for design and engineering still runs deep within, so I like nothing more than window shopping the estate agents in Ibiza.  There are some amazing properties for sale in Ibiza. Myself I like the traditional Ibizan Fincas for sale but do also see the attraction to the modern villas with infinity pools Ibiza has to offer. An elderly friend of ours decided to opt for a small, terraced town house in Ibiza town and since investing in this great little bolt hole he’s found a new lease of life, his place is close to the bar and restaurants and trust us his loving life all over again aged 82.  There always seems to be something of interest going on which makes this island special.

People say it’s an expensive island to visit, but that all depends on you. We do not find it to be that way as it costs nothing to wander around the streets, people watch & browse the displays offering amazing property for sale in Ibiza.  We find that buying property for sale in Spain in comparison does mean you get more for your buck in comparison to Buying a property in Ibiza. On the mainland we decided to buy a property in Javea.  In this area you can buy a Spanish villa with pool from 300k Depending on the area, plot size and the quality of the build. This would possibly only get you a small apartment in Ibiza. But what’s the old saying, you only get what you pay for. There are many properties in Javea for sale and of course many more properties for sale in Spain in general.

Another area we like to visit is Denia not only to catch the ferry, but to take advantage of the shops and restaurants.  There are some very lovely properties for sale in Denia too and priced lower than Javea.  New Apartments for sale in Denia can start from as low as 80k. Whereas preowned apartments in Denia can also be purchased at extremely low prices.  We recently viewed an investment property in Denia under 60k. That is a bargain Spanish property when considering it was in such a busy Spanish town which works around its Marina and port.  Some properties in Denia offer a very good rental return.

If you do happen to be in Denia you really must try El Tomassets Restaurant, you will not be disappointed if you like an amazing steak or local caught Denia prawns cooked over hot coals. Sorry food always makes me digress!
