Benalmadena is one of the Costa del Sol’s main resorts and, with a population of around 70,000, one of the areas largest towns. It is roughly split into two quite different areas, the old town and the coast.
It has surprisingly old history for such a seemingly modern town and there are plenty of relics and monuments dotted around that reflect this. These include some ancient watchtowers, two castles, the famous Niña statue and numerous religious buildings from all ages.

There are plenty of chances for marine activities from diving to boating. There is a train station here as well as a good public bus system and long network of bicycle lanes.
Malaga City is about half an hour away by car and 45 minutes on the train. If you travel inland, you are very soon in rural Andalusia with several natural parks and other green spaces as well as mountains and rivers.
