Discover Cabo Roig
Cabo Roig is within the Orihuela municipality on the southern Costa Blanca. It is best known for its long, clean beaches with their white sands and attracts a number of European tourists in the peak summer months. However outside of these times it is much quieter and avoids the mid-summer heat.
There is also a marina, regarded as one of the best on the Costa Blanca with 200 berths and a restaurant as well as other facilities. For this reason some people who choose to make a new life in Cabo Roig are keen sailors, although many others move there for the beaches and, of course, the climate. It also has a number of good restaurants as well as some establishments aimed at locals which are well worth a visit. There is quite a lively night-life in the summer months in particular.
Tennis, horse riding and diving are among the activities available in the town or close by. Alicante airport is about an hours drive to the north while the smaller Murcia regional airport is about 40 minutes drive south.
The southern Costa Blanca runs from the Murcia border to Alicante and is generally flatter and drier than the north. It has some of the best golf courses in the Valencian Community and a number of towns have grown in recent years largely due to the influx of European expatriates. These include Torrevieja, Orihuela, La Zenia and Cabo Roig.
The beaches are generally white and sandy and the landscape is dotted with citrus crops, vineyards and olive groves. There are numerous places to drink and eat, ranging from traditional Spanish to Asian restaurants and even fish and chip shops.
