Discover Villajoyosa on Spain's Costa Blanca
Villajoyosa (also known as La Vila Joiosa) is only fifteen minutes along the Costa Blanca coast from Benidorm, yet it has little in common with its bustling neighbour. Although it is a pretty large town with a population of around 35,000 people and a thriving tourist economy, most visitors and residents are seeking a peaceful life with all the conveniences of a larger town. It is recognized for its chocolate business, with a well-known Spanish producer situated here, in addition to its beautiful beaches. One of the area's top attractions is a tour of the chocolate museum.
The Gothic church, bronze age archaeological site, and well-preserved old quarter are well worth seeing. There is a bustling program of fiestas and other events, as in nearly every Spanish town with a population of more than a thousand or so, about which the local town hall or tourist office will be pleased to provide you with additional information.
There are numerous bars and restaurants (many of which cater to a foreign clientele), and newcomers are advised to just keep an eye out for where the locals eat. On decent roads, the Alicante airport is roughly a 40-minute drive away.
Benidorm, Calpe, and Altea are among the most well-known resorts on the Costa Blanca's Marina Baixa (or Baja). However, because the majority of the district is inland, many people relocate and buy property in Villajoyosa in search of a peaceful rural life with easy access to Alicante airport and the coast.
Aside from its well-known nightlife, the area around Benidorm is a great place for families, with a variety of theme parks and nature parks, as well as several beautiful beaches, some of which are surprisingly quiet, especially outside of the summer season.
Many people decide to buy property for sale in Spain because of the climate, which boasts over 300 days of sunshine each year and temperatures that rarely fall below double digits, even in the winter. There are also various golf courses to suit players of all skill levels and budgets.
